In this unit, first graders learned about different countries in the world using our nonfiction collection. We also examined artifacts in the library collected from all around the world, and lent to our library from members of our community. In addition, we participated in a grade-wide international pen pal project. We swapped stuffed bears with a first grade class in Argentina and kept a class blog as we introduced the bear to life in the United States. We also read the blog entries that the class in Argentina wrote about the experience our bear was having.
